Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
At Gretton Primary School, we welcome children of all abilities and are proud of our inclusive practice.
We are committed to offering a fully inclusive curriculum to ensure the best possible progress for all of our pupils whatever their needs, backgrounds or abilities. Our staff are committed to giving all pupils every opportunity to achieve the highest of standards in all aspects of school life.
We have the same high expectations of educational aims for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, as we do for all children in school. Our school makes every effort to provide a safe, secure and inclusive environment for teachers and pupils, which ensures that the needs and disabilities of all pupils are met effectively and do not any present barriers to learning.
Children may have special educational needs either throughout, or at any time during, their school career. We ensure that curriculum planning and assessment for children with special educational needs takes account of the type and extent of the difficulty experienced by the child.
We know that for parents, communication and understanding of the individual is key to a successful education and we hope that by working together we can ensure that every child at Gretton Primary School can achieve their best and be successful in all aspects of life.
How do we support our children with SEND to AIM HIGH:
We teach our children to be:
Aware – Children develop an understanding of themselves, the world, and the communities around them, supported through inclusive provision that enables them to become responsible and active citizens.
Inspired – Learning is adapted to connect with the wider curriculum, inspiring curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning through appropriate support and challenge.
Mindful – Children are supported to understand their individual needs, mental wellbeing, and emotional regulation, developing strategies to manage feelings and build resilience.
Happy – Children are supported to feel confident, safe, and content in school, with their needs understood, valued, and met.
Inclusive – The school community celebrates difference, ensuring all children feel respected, understood, and that they belong.
Growing – SEND provision promotes resilience, independence, and a growth mindset, enabling pupils to make progress and become lifelong learners.
Hardworking – Children are encouraged to try their best, with clear expectations, personalised support, and an understanding of what success looks like for them.
We hope that the following information may help you to understand our SEND provision, and our commitment to supporting both you and your child.
