We're Going on a Bear Hunt

'We're going on a bear hunt we're going to catch a big one...' Having stumbled along the bumpy path, squelched through the sticky mud, brushed through the wet grass and clambered over piles of sticks we discovered that there are definitely no bears living at Forest School! The Robins animatedly chanted along with Michael Rosen's well known and loved story adding actions and lots of expression as they joined in with the repeated refrains. They drew story maps and used water colour paints to create the textures of the different settings in the story. Another favourite tale set the scene for our maths work this week. The Three Billy Goats Gruff introduced the idea of composition of numbers and the children explored ways to make 3 using dice games and dominoes. Robins were very brave receiving their tickly flu vaccinations and I was very proud of how politely they answered the nurse's questions and how little fuss they made. We all loved meeting Harold the giraffe who came to meet us with Anita from Life Education and who talked to us about ways to keep ourselves healthy to ensure we have plenty of energy. She was very impressed with how well the children listened and answered her questions for which they all received a well-deserved sticker.

Anita and Harold's cousin Henry who came in his safari outfit!
