I stayed up all night wondering where the sun had gone. Then it dawned on me.

While the majority of the class were at Winchcombe Abbey playing tag rugby, some of the Eagles learned about the Sun with Ms Wallace. Daisy discovered that 25% of people sneeze on exposure to sunlight, while Harry M discovered that the sun is a yellow dwarf. Charlie astounded us all with his technical knowledge of the aurora borealis.

The children then made models of the Sun using biscuits, lemon frosting and non-pareils - yellow sugar crystals, chocolate chips (to represent the Sun spots) and strawberry laces (to represent the solar prominences). When they were finished they drew diagrams of their models and labelled them accurately. sun
