Winchcombe Walk

As part of the Winchcombe Walking Festival, the Cotswold Wardens kindly arranged for the Eagles to have a guided tour of Winchcombe.

We learned all kinds of interesting things, such as; the origins of the nursery rhyme 'Baa Baa Black Sheep', the names of plants like green alkanet and white dead nettles, and that the Isbourne is the only river which flows north.

There was a moment of drama as Mr Major, Jemima and Issy went to the rescue of a lamb with its head stuck in a fence. They received a round of applause as the lamb ran back to its mother.
