The Raven

A dark classroom, blinds drawn. An unsettling music box playing. A raven, perched atop the whiteboard. Candles burning. Eagles experienced the creation of atmosphere on Wednesday in advance of our work on the poem 'The Raven', by Edgar Allen Poe. We listened to it being read by Sir Christopher Lee and thought about aspects such as sibilance and repetition. We also had a visit from Life Education this week. Anita talked to us about friendships, listening to others, joining in and standing up for what you believe in. She also talked about the importance of trying new things, peer influence and how that might include drugs, including alcohol. Of course, we couldn't end the session without a quick hello to Harold the giraffe! Congratulations to Matty and George, our new School Council co-chairs, who won a very close battle with Freya and Bonny. Both presentations were superb and the final vote count was neck and neck for a long time. Congratulations also to Oscar, who will be our Year 5 representative.
