This week Owls have been looking at how different religions practise their faith. Firstly we compared Christianity to Islam. We were surprised to find that although there are many differences, there were a number of similarities too. Both religion have their own special places and books. They also require their followers to be charitable, look out for their families and support each other.
Later in the week, we also looked at hinduism and how Hindu's believe in reincarnation. With this in mind, they too lead a very family orientated life and try to live a good life so they can achieve 'moksha' where they are at one with God. The children looked at some of the pictures from my travels in India and Nepal to see how Hindu's make offerings for their God at the river. We also looked at Rangoli patterns and how Hindu's put these outside their homes at Diwali to encourage the God, Lakshmi, to enter. The children then designed their own Rangoli patterns.
