Owls have been lucky enough to get some Saxon artifacts into the classroom. The chain-mail hood proved especially popular for trying on and we imagined what it might have been like to wear in battle. It was very heavy!
Other things we were able to look at were some Anglo Saxon coins. We saw that, like today, they had a picture of the Kings head on one side and there were some runes (Anglo Saxon writing) on them also. It was fantastic for the children to explore these artifacts, which really helped bring it all to life. Many thanks to Mrs Greasby for arranging this. We were also very lucky to see a model Anglo Saxon village, which Jack Tustin had made with his Dad. Well done Jack and your Dad on an amazingly detailed model.
