Owls have been doing lots of work on forces and carried out an experiment to test which objects had the most friction. We attached a rubber band to various objects and pulled. When the object started to move we measured the length of the band. The longer the band stretched before the object moved, the more friction it had. We have since learned that the factors which affect an objects friction are weight / pressure, how rough or smooth the object is and the surface area of the object which is in contact with the ground.
