FOGS is Gretton Schools Parent Teacher Association (PTA), which is a committee run registered charity. Its role is to encourage closer links between home and school. FOGS main priority is to raise funds for the school, also has useful social function too. Fundraising events provide an opportunity for parents, staff and pupils to get together out of school house.

How is the FOGS organised?

All parents/carers and teachers are automatically members of FOGS, but we are run by a small committee of parents with one teacher representative.

Our annual general meeting is held in September , at the start of the school year. At this meeting a committee is elected to run the PTA – which consists of a chair, a vice-chair, a treasurer, a secretary and ordinary committee members.  We then meet once every half term to organise events and discuss how the money raised should be spent

How is money raised?

We have a pretty standard set of events we use to raise money, there is an example attached to this letter, usually one main event each school term  with smaller events such as school discos and bake sales throughout the year. We are always looking for new fundraising ideas.

How is money spent?

Funds raised by FOGS are intended to provide ‘extras’ not already provided by the school's main income – often 'fun things' that make learning more interesting and exciting.

The PTA committee decide how to spend PTA funds. Common items include WHAt???

How can I be involved in FOGS?

There are many different ways you can help with FOGS, whether you have lots of time to offer or not. Ideally the anyone undertaking a main committee role, should be a committee member first, this enables a more effective ‘hand-over’ of the role, and gives new parents a good idea of how FOGS works. If you are interested in joining the committee please speak to an existing committee member, or come along to the AGM.

What we need the most is support, extra hands to help out at events, and most importantly, bring your children, family friends to support the events we organise.
